And then there were two…
It has been awhile since I have blogged an update, hoping to include a small picture album update for all our readers on this page today. So much has been happening in our mission life and life overall. God’s answer to prayer for a smaller, automatic bus for my daily driver arrived a short while ago. A small handful of close friends and family pitched in to purchase this little rascal. Rightfully named, Mark 12 after Bible Scripture and the second Disciple of Christ in the New Testament. It is only fitting to write the scripture our little gift of a bus now carries, scripture lives as this;
The Greatest Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
As little bus, Mark travels out into the city bringing supplies to our neighbors in need, this scripture fits the meaning behind all of which we are led to do. On the back of Mark we placed a story about the love behind bringing Mark home with us and the journey that together we strive to live out. The story reads as this:
Little bus Mark will be daily carrying needed supplies out to the streets within our reach. In preparation for Mark’s destiny, I sat in the bus for a few weeks, preparing in prayer. Asking Gods firm direction and provision over the supplies. There is a divine strategy for the steps we take, our flesh not lead therefore leaning in prayer and seeking Gods precise movement for this blessing and need is critical. Sitting in the bus one morning, I pictured being parked in a store parking lot and folks walking around the little bus with wonder of what the purpose is behind the bus conversion. Placing a small story as listed above made so much sense, as there is always need of opportunity to inspire others to move out of comfort zones and reach out to those around us in simple, impacting love.
An old bus, a handful of friends pooling together out of love of God and those within our reach. Faith is fueling and filling this little bus to a great proportion. Being a witness no matter how small the suggestion may be the very impression that floods a neighborhood, city, state or nation. The thought as I wrote the little story on a sticker, of a beautiful soul longing to step out fearlessly for God with nothing in their pocket but an abundance of faith in their heart and passion overflowing, walking by the bus at just the right moment…then smiling in confirmation that today is the day to leap out and fulfill the call would be nothing less then amazing. To be a small vehicle of inspiration for those longing to fill the gaps in the lives of others for Christ is the right procedure to embrace.
To many, this little hippy bus named Mark with us goofy, flawed yet passionate and joy filled people driving it for Jesus may be laughable…to us we see the impact of leading thousands to Gods eternal love instead of being left for dead on the very streets we reside on. Every time we pull up hundreds come lining up. Our Full Circle mission began from the back of our cars, mobile missions was the heartbeat that birthed the mission that grew to serving over 4000 lives a year, not just once but over and over.
Traveling down the road rocking out with the biggest smiles on our faces and our dogs beside us as we know every moment we pull over to assist, a life will be moved. Let us be a witness that it does not take budgets, programs, big buildings, high overhead, large staff’s and all the politics and mess to go along with it. Let us be a witness that Christ’s love overwhelms when inhaled and lived out with just the hand and feet that he has given. Reach out loudly! Life is deeply worth living…living begins when it is no longer about you! This love that we offer to our King of Glory is contagious…just BE His hands and feet. He created us in His own image, therefore follow the steps of our sandal wearing Jesus, simplify, take out the distractions, take out the excuses, take out the competition with keeping up with the Jones and crash into embracing movement with cross carrying love. We ALL have so much left to give, to complete to give. Your life is needed in this body of Christ…serve ferociously for Christ! The darkness needs saturated with light…Be His light…our lost brothers and sisters await hope…Be His hope in action!
Ok that is my shout out for the moment anyway 🙂
Our pictures of the new baby bus, Mark are to follow along with our home bus Matthew as we further teach people housing alternatives and the beauty in simplistic living with great great purpose. Love love love
